- June 01, 1981 – Imagic is formed by William Grubb and other former executives of Mattel Electronics and Atari.
- June 01, 1991 – At the Consumer Electronics Show in Chicago, Illinois, Nintendo announces the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (Super NES). The 16-bit system will use new game cartridges, and compact discs using a CD-ROM drive developed with Philips N.V. The system is to be available for sale in September.
- June 01, 2005 – Battlefield 2 goes gold.
- June 03, 1990 – Nintendo sues Lewis Galoob Toys to try to prevent the Game Genie from being sold.

- June 05, 1978 – Taito introduces the Space Invaders game, in Japan. Original name was Space Monsters, created by Toshihiro Nishikado.

- June 15, 2001 – Paramount Pictures releases the live-action feature film Lara Croft: Tomb Raider to theaters in the US. The film is based on the popular video game series. (Total American theater ticket sales: US$131 million.)
- June 17, 1982 – Atari grants Centuri exclusive worldwide rights to manufacture and distribute the Tunnel Hunt arcade game.
- June 19, 1997 - The Electronic Entertainment Expo is held in Atlanta, Georgia, over three days. Total attendance is 37,100. Nintendo unveils the Banjo-Kazooie video game.
- June 22, 1996 – Quake released.
- June 23, 1991 – Sega Enterprises introduces the Sonic the Hedgehog game for the Genesis and Game Gear video game systems in the US. The game was created by Haoto Oshima, Hirokazu Yashuhara, and Yuji Naka in 14 months.
- June 23, 1996 – In Japan, Nintendo ships the Nintendo 64 video game system. Price is 25,000 yen.
- June 27, 2001 – Anarchy Online is released.
- June 30, 2003 – Activision sues Viacom, claiming that its ten-year exclusive deal to produce Star Trek video games is losing value due to Viacom’s neglect of the franchise.
