- August 01, 1993 – Nintendo releases the Super Mario All-Stars video game for the Super NES in the US.
- August 01, 1995 – Command & Conquer released.
- August 01, 1998 – Rainbow Six released.
- August 07, 2000 – Lifetime Television airs the film The Truth About Jane on television in the USA. A Nintendo game system is heard being played, but a Sega controller is shown.
- August 08, 2002 – Microsoft announces it is working on a sequel to the Halo video game for the Xbox.
- August 09, 1992 – Midway Amusement Games releases the Mortal Kombat video game Version 1.0 to arcades in the US.
- August 11, 1995 – QuakeCon is born.
- August 11, 2003 – Planet DOOM is born!
- August 16, 2006 – Company of Heroes goes gold.
